arcMap edit 3

customize menu -> toolbar -> labeling -> click view unplaced label button

 

change map scale -> right click on layer -> set reference scale

right click on layer -> convert label to annotation -> uncheck linked features -> convert

labels are converted to annotation

editor -> labeling window -> unplaced annotation

check draw -> click search now button

right click on text -> place annotation

editor toolbar -> select edit annotation 

right click on placed label -> follow feature options

update settings

right click on creek -> follow feature -> drag to move annotation -> L to flip

select a label from text -> right click -> pan to label

press space to place label -> right click on label -> stack

stack label first -> move pointer to the corner of label to rotate

create feature -> canyons in canyonsAnno layer

construction tool -> straight -> type in text

click to place label on map, rotate 

drag right triangle in label middle to resize

select default in RoadAnno layer -> select follow feature in construction tool

select find text in annotation construction window -> click on highway

drag to slide text alone highway
